Returning Jewish joy and celebration to the corner of Shady and Wilkins Avenues
The Center for Jewish Life and Culture welcomes all. Through the Center, we are returning Jewish joy and celebration to the corner of Shady and Wilkins Avenues by creating exciting and meaningful Jewish programming. The Center anchors the site in remembrance, connection, and Jewish life, ensuring that Jewish tradition continues to be celebrated with intention, creativity and care for generations to come.
The Center will ensure that The Tree of Life remains a vibrant source of inspiration, connection and joy for future generations. Programming through the Center will provide year-round opportunities to experience the richness of Jewish tradition and culture for people of all ages and backgrounds, deepening personal connections to Judaism and strengthening the roots that connect our shared values.
Celebrate.
Research consistently highlights that exposure to Jewish life significantly reduces antisemitic attitudes. At the Center for Jewish Life and Culture, our mission is to cultivate understanding and connection through meaningful engagement with Jewish life, often serving as the introduction to Jewish life for non-Jewish visitors.
Through creative holiday observances, engaging family workshops, and alternative Shabbat celebrations, the Center will also offer a firsthand connection to Jewish values, ideas, and traditions that are pluralistic and accessible to all.
Additionally, rooted in its 160-year legacy, the Tree of Life congregation will return to the building, embodying remembrance, resilience and our sustained commitment to the Pittsburgh community.
